Hello all,
This is your yearly reminder to not drink and drive.  Twelve years ago today, I made the worst decision of my life.  A decision I live with every day.  I got into a car that was being driven by a drunk driver.  One mistake is I wish upon no one.
I can’t believe it has been twelve years already.  I hope my injury inspires you enough to always have a designated driver and a backup driver programmed on your cell phone.

September is National Spinal Cord awareness month

Every 48 minutes, another person in the United States will become paralyzed.  That is simply unacceptable.  Each of us must promise to do something to help create a national conversation about what it means to be paralyzed and the urgent need to find this cure.  Please help.

HOT HOT HOT

With the temps so high, I thought I'd let you know that paralyzed people don't sweat below the level of their injury.  That means we need to stay well hydrated and in the shade.

In my words

Eleven years ago today, I made the worst decision of my life. A decision I live with every day. I got into a car that was being driven by a drunk driver. This driver blacked-out with his foot on the accelerator. The car was travelling around 90 when we hit a ditch and went airborne. 100 feet later, the car landed and flipped heel over heads 3 times. It was thought that I was ejected out of the back window during one of those flips and landed some feet farther than the car. Within 20 minutes I was lifeflighted to St. Rita’s Hospital and was being prepped for surgery.
